New Iberia was treated to an eyeful, and an earful if you were near the aircraft, when an Antonov AN-124 Ruslan (quad-jet) (A124) with Volga-Dnepr airline delivered three Pan African helicopters to Acadiana Regional Airport.
It looks as if I was not mistaken in my observations that Google has gone off the rails. I have been planning to move my blog to WordPress on my own servers. I am now determined to do so more than ever after seeing this article.
“Google ads will no longer accept anything related to the cph.org
domain. They stated the reason is because of the faith we express on our
website,” Kintz wrote. “[A CPH associate] was told, as an example, that
things like our bible (sic) challenge on our [Vacation Bible School]
webpage would clearly need to come down before they could consider us
for ads.”
I came across this article and was immediately struck by the national self-preservation shown by this court. If only it spreads far and wide.
"PARIS
— An Algerian woman’s refusal to shake hands with male officials at a
French naturalization ceremony is sufficient grounds for denying her
citizenship, France’s top administrative court has ruled.
In its decision — issued on April 11 but reported only this week — the court, known as the Council of State, said that the woman’s refusal “in a place and at a moment that are symbolic, reveals a lack of assimilation.”"
Saturday(April 14, 2018) afternoon, my cousin Janet Medlen, née Miller, called and invited me over for the night and next day. I drove over to their place near Port Barre. It is on the Courtableau Bayou near the Ronald Reagan Highway(U.S. 190). From there, I went to meet Janet and her husband Gene at a Bar-B-Que that a friend of theirs was having on Bayou Road. The food and conversations were great.
The following day, Janet went off to attend a baby shower while her husband, his nephew Jason, and I tried out the fishing from their pier on the bayou. Unfortunately for us, the water was too high, too fast, and too muddy for us to catch any fish that day.
Below is a video and some pictures from the pier. The video was inadvertent as I pressed the wrong button when trying to shoot a panorama, which is also below.

I decided to go outside and ride around on my bicycle after the storm passed. I got dressed for the ride and put on my boots. Before I left, I used my neti pot to flush out my nasal passages. I also ground 6 grams of vitamin C, which I dissolved in water and drank.
Along the way I found berries growing toward the Vermilion River and picked enough to fill a coffee pot to three-quarters.
An apartment complex is being built across the parking lot from the Double Tree Hilton. The earth moving equipment[Ed.] is being put in place to begin work.
Further down the road nearer the river, martins were having a feast.
I rode across the Vermilion River via the bridge on Pinhook Road. On riding down to the riverside, I noticed that the river was flowing backwards and so I walked onto the tour boat landing to have a closer look. Here is a video produced using the hyperlapse feature of my cell phones camera.
After I reached the end of the landing I shot some video footage of the river flowing backwards.
One of the intentions I had when undertaking this morning ride was to visit the graves of my Aunt Dot Miller and my friend J.P. Vanway.
I used two different apps on my phone to track my route. Here is a screenshot of each.
I was awakened from a dream by Mom calling at 6:43 am. She just wanted to chat for a moment. Here is a picture of her at the rehabilitation facility where she is recovering from a broken hip.

From outside, I could hear pouring rain and the near constant rumbling of thunder. Before Mom woke me, I had been dreaming that it was raining, go figure.
Since I already had my phone in my hand, I opened the MyRadar and nabbed a couple of screenshots.

I eschewed my usual breakfast and had savory beef stew and rice, leftover from last night.
When you open a web browser and surf the 'net or send an email, the information you are sending and receiving may pass through one of these cables. Recently, the cable to Mauritania was broken or cut. This shows a vulnerability that has existed since the first undersea cable was laid in the 1850's.
"An entire country, Mauritania, was taken offline for two days because an undersea cable was cut.
The 17,000-kilometer African Coast to Europe submarine cable, which
connects 22 countries from France to South Africa, was severed on March
30, cutting off web access partially or totally to the residents of
Sierra Leone and Mauritania."
