I went for a bike ride this morning and decided to ride Phase I of the
Atakapas-Ishak Trail. Here is a record of the ride.
The trail starts out at
Downtown Lafayette, LA where you can visit the
9/11 memorial.
As you head down the trail, you will notice that it is well marked with street signs and road signs.

On University Avenue, you will cross the
Vermilion River. From the bridge, you can see the Beaver Park Boat Landing.

The trail passes through Beaver Park, which has the aforementioned boat landing and a retention pond.

The trail leads along the Vermilion River under the bridge serving Highway 90 near the
Lafayette Regional Airport.
After you cross under the highway, you will see the
Bayou Vermilion District where you are cautioned not to feed the alligators.

Next, you will see
Vermilionville. There is a $10 fee to visit the grounds.
Nearby, you come to The
Acadian Cultural Center. This is the end of Phase I of the Atakapas-Ishak trail.
